1. Could you tell us your name and your job title?

Jess Ely, Evaluation Assistant

2. Could you tell us about your background (i.e., past education / jobs)?

I studied Childhood Development and Playwork BA (Hons) at Leeds Beckett University, then worked as an early years practitioner at a nursery and a teaching assistant at a primary school before completing my Psychology in Education MSc at University of York.

3. What is your favourite part of your job?

I love analysing data and looking at trends and themes. Evaluating the focus groups we did with military service children was so fascinating and rewarding, I learnt a lot!

4. What one piece of advice would you give to someone looking at their future education

My advice would be to think about what subject you enjoy the most and will enjoy studying in more depth but also think about career opportunities as well within that area.

5. What is your favourite film or book

My favourite film is Fantastic Mr Fox directed by Wes Anderson, it is so funny, and it makes me so happy every time I watch it! The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne is a book I think about regularly even though I read it over two years ago now. A deeply emotional and important read.

6. If you were an animal, what type of animal do you think you’d be

I’d be a koala because I love a nap!
