Jess Ely

Impact Evaluation Assistant

What made you want to work for the Inspiring Choices programme?

I was passionate about joining the programme because I had worked with young people in various environments before and I wanted to continue making a difference to their lives and futures. I was attracted to the role because the job specification called for a lot of skills I had been developing during my MSc. I was able to bring my passion, experience as well as knowledge surrounding psychology and data across to the role.

What does your ideal workday look like?

I enjoy getting to campus nice and early before it gets busy and getting through some work, catching up on emails or with colleagues in a meeting, having lunch outside and working from home in the afternoon.

What is something about yourself that you are proud of?

I am proud of getting an undergraduate degree and then returning to education three years later to complete a MSc in Psychology in Education.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I love listening to music on spotify, radio 6 or picking up new records!

If you could be a guest on a TV show which show would it be?

I would be so bad at it but probably Taskmaster!

What have you read or watched recently and enjoyed?

I recently read Wintering which is all about hunkering down in difficult times and weathering the storm.

What would be your ideal superpower?

Probably to know what other people are thinking and vice versa. That might be a blessing and a curse though!

You’re stranded on a desert island, what is one thing you can’t live without?

Probably my noise cancelling headphones. Can I also include wifi and my phone? haha
