About us

Emily Carhart

Outreach Coordinator

What made you want to work for the Inspiring Choices programme?

I wanted to contribute to the fantastic work of Inspiring Choices, as higher education (whether that is university, a college course or an apprenticeship) can be so positive and transformative, and every young person deserves to have the correct information and access to this.

What does your ideal workday look like?

Going out to deliver a workshop at a school in North Yorkshire, then returning back to the YSJ campus to catch up with our lovely team.

What is something about yourself that you are proud of?

I'm proud of myself for going to university and obtaining my Bachelor's degree in my mid-twenties, as I didn't think this was something I could do when I left school.

What activity do you enjoy outside of work?

I've got into gardening, and have managed to grow tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines and peppers so far with minimal casualties. I find it really therapeutic.

If you could be a guest on a TV show which show would it be?

Taskmaster

What have you read or watched recently and enjoyed?

I'm a massive Austen nerd, so I re-read Pride and Prejudice for the millionth time recently and rewatched the 1995 adaptation, and I feel like it just gets better every time.

What would be your ideal superpower?

To be able to talk to animals, it would be so fascinating.

You’re stranded on a desert island, what is one thing you can’t live without?

Pretzels, I'm completely addicted to them.
