Abbie Salkeld

Outreach Coordinator

What made you want to work for the Inspiring Choices programme?

I get the opportunity to work with many students across the county, explore new projects and inform students on future pathways.

What does your ideal workday look like?

My ideal workday would involve a trip out into the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside to visit one of the schools we work with. While at the school, I would enjoy running a future selves workshop to explore the students’ passions and goals for the future.

What is something about yourself that you are proud of?

I am proud of the decision I made to pursue my Level 6 Careers advisor qualification this year. There was a time after university when I was unsure which direction I wanted to go in. Working for Inspiring Choices has helped me to find a career path I am excited and passionate about.

What activity do you enjoy outside of work?

The activity I enjoy most outside of work is writing. I have particularly enjoyed writing scripts for youth drama groups and watching the group bring the script to life on stage.

If you could be a guest on a TV show which show would it be?

I would love to be a guest on the TV show Interior design masters. This would be a chance to get creative and meet other people with a passion for interior design.

What have you read or watched recently and enjoyed?

I have recently been enjoying reading books by the author Steve Cavanagh. The books are mostly described as legal thrillers and have some incredible plot twists. My first and favourite book of his is ‘Fifty-Fifty’.

What would be your ideal superpower?

The power of plant communication! You could talk to plants to help them thrive. You could grow your own food, regrow forests and have a beautiful garden.

You’re stranded on a desert island, what is one thing you can’t live without?

My air fryer. Its so quick and easy!
